This year, we’re introducing a new monster to the crew, which hasn't been done in 35 years! Carmella Creeper is a zombie who loves to DJ and she’s joined the monsters to bring her unique style to the group. Carmella is Franken Berry’s cousin and is so thrilled to join them!

A Cereal with All the Monsters

Along with Carmella, it simply isn’t Halloween without monsters—Count Chocula, Franken Berry and Boo Berry—who launched in the early 70s and were inspired by classic horror film vampires and Frankenstein, a trending craze at the time.

Today, the three monster cereals make an appearance every year just in time for Halloween to inspire nostalgic joy and spread the spooky spirit. This year, they’re happy to include their first female monster to the crew to add a fourth cereal. It all began in March 1971 when the Monster Cereals officially debuted with Count Chocula and Franken Berry.

About the Monsters Breakfast Cereal

The two cereals were the only chocolate- and strawberry-flavored cereals on the market at the time. Their unique flavors and delicious marshmallow bits quickly became a hit among cereal fans. Boo Berry, the first blueberry-flavored cereal, joined the group a year later in 1972 and expanded nationally in February of 1973. Now, in 2023 Carmella Creeper will be the first monster cereal with a delicious caramel apple flavor!
